A multidisciplinary work for 1–3 improvisers, integrated audiovisuals, ropes, cords & other binding materials.
Threads of Connection is focused on the idea of relationships between individuals & the contemporary world, revealing the significance of interconnectedness in our lives. Incorporating ropes & other binding material symbolizes the interdependence and vulnerability of individuals and the threads that connect us to one another. We are more connected individuals than disconnected “dividuals”.
It proceeds in four sections, highlighting a different aspect of connectivity, such as human relationships, social networks, technology, & environmental interrelationship.
Performer/s work with instruments & various types of ropes, communicating via visual, aural & physical cues, focusing on, tension, restriction, release & flexibility. Audiovisual component derived & developed from the workshop/rehearsal sessions, links preparatory actions with performance actions enhancing the connections with the performance & audience experience. The open nature of this work allows for unique interpretations to be revealed depending on the number of participating performers.
