badbedtime stories is a series of 12 paintings, each followed by a short story. They are personal stories, showing connections between private and public relationships, touching upon topics of mobility and bureaucracy, private and state borders. Each story is related to a month of the year. During the lockdown 2020–2021 I was creating a painting and a story and posting them on social media. This way I connected with the tradition of live storytelling during social events, which were replaced by online meetings during quarantine.

Images are a kind of symbols and cultural codes, that can be read differently, with or without the text. Stories behind the pictures connect different people, countries and times, being at the same time both, very intimate and personal – and something many can relate to.
